How Can I Keep My Frozen Fish Safe During Relocation?

So, I’m making the big move from Michigan to Florida, and I’ve decided to drive down instead of dealing with the hassle of shipping my stuff. I’ve been trying to use up all the frozen foods in my freezer before the move, but there’s still a stash of frozen fish that I can’t bear to part with. So, I’ve come up with a plan to bring it along with me.

I’ve got this trusty 16-quart cooler that I’m going to use to transport all the frozen fish. I made sure it fits in my freezer by pre-cooling it, as I read that it helps to keep things cold longer. I’ve packed the cooler to the brim and loaded it up with ice packs to keep everything nice and frosty during the journey.

I’m not hitting the road until Saturday, so I’ve left the cooler in the freezer for almost 48 hours to get it super chilled. My hope is to squeeze it into the mini fridge in the hotel room overnight to keep everything icy until I reach my new apartment. The plan is to take the cooler out of the freezer around noon on Saturday and make sure it stays cool until I can pop it back into a freezer by 9 pm on Sunday at the latest.

But hey, I’m all about being prepared, so I’m wondering if there’s anything else I can do to ensure that my precious frozen fish stays safe to eat once I finally get settled in my new place. Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for your help!
