I have been traveling for five years now, and I firmly believe that solo travel is the best way to get the most out of a trip. When I first started traveling, I went to Europe with four of my acquaintances: A, B, C, and D. Initially, we all planned to stick together, but unfortunately, it didn’t work out that way.
Person A was the leader of the group and was incredibly lazy. We would go out partying until 1am, but she would stay up all night and then sleep until 2pm. In the third week of our trip, I was getting fed up with waiting for her to wake up every day and decided to explore on my own. She was disappointed that I was leaving without them, but I wanted to explore and experience the culture, not just sit around in our Airbnb all day.
Person B was very stingy with money and refused to spend it on anything interesting. He was the richest out of all of us and had no student loans, but he would only eat at Subway or cook food at the Airbnb. Whenever I wanted to grab a bite to eat somewhere, he would tell me to just cook something at the Airbnb. He refused to spend money on museums or anything else that cost money, but wanted us all to stay together.
This is why I chose to go solo traveling. I wanted to explore the culture and the food, not just stick around McDonalds and Subway. Solo travel has allowed me to really experience the culture and get to know the locals. I can go wherever I want, whenever I want, and I don’t have to worry about waiting around for other people. I highly recommend solo travel to anyone who wants to get the most out of their trip.
